What is “R” Value?

The R-value is a number used to indicate a material’s ability to resist heat loss. Unfortunately the test used to determine R-value does not account for air movement (wind) or any amount of moisture (water vapor). Our houses leak air, and they often leak water. Water vapor from the atmosphere, showers, cooking, breathing, ect., constantly moves back and forth through the walls and ceilings. Even small amounts of moisture can cause a dramatic drop in fiberglass and cellulose insulation’s R-value.

Air infiltration is the major cause of heat loss in today’s homes. There are tremendous air currents that blow through the walls of a typical home. As a demonstration, hold a lit candle near an electrical outlet of an outside wall when the wind is blowing. You can see why 40% of our heat loss is due to air infiltration. The only commonly used insulation that absolutely protects itself from air infiltration is the sprayed polyurethane foam.

Perfect for metal buildings!

Installing closed cell foam directly to the metal on your shop building will not only provide insulation value but also improve the structural strength of your building. Closed cell foam insulation is also the best material for eliminating moisture build up on walls and ceiling of metal buildings.

How Spray Foam Insulation is Helping U.S. Farmers Produce Better Poultry

Spray Foam insulation is certainly no stranger to the agricultural industry. For many years, spray foam has helped farmers create better climate controlled storage facilities, barns, coolers, and tanks; among other things. Recently, there has been a trend in the poultry industry to abandon the old methodology of "open air" side wall designed houses and move toward totally enclosed houses. There isn't a more cost effective, time saving or money saving option available for farmers when it comes to retrofitting their existing poultry houses.
